UPDATE7/12...My dear friends, I unfortunately need to take some time off and take care of myself. I have sat day in and day out at this computer(that is when I am not taking care of my moms immediate needs) and there is so much going on right now that I will be unable to vote for a couple of weeks. This I am truly sorry but I have an infection in my right leg that I have to take seriously! I have CELLULITUS and it is not healing with me abusing myself as far as my health goes. Also mom and I are moving as of August 1st and I need to get packing done. I absolutely hate waiting til the very last minute to do that as this has been the case in the past! I do not know how I am going to juggle all this and get my leg better but I know that I have some great friends here that have prayed and been there for shoulders to cry on and to just get a lot of stuff off my chest and for that I am so very thankful for!!! And first and foremost, I have THE LORD to help us through all this! I will return to you all shortly after our move. Thank you all for your votes and your friendship and your kindness and understanding! THANK YOU and GOD BLESS YOU ALL! UPDATE7/7... WE saw the Oncologist today, Mom has STAGE2 cancer !!! What I thought was to be an outing of a couple of hours turned out to be 6 HOURS!!! Mom was scheduled for a CT SCAN tomorrow @ 1130 has been changed to 10am tomorrow!!! She also has an appt with her surgeon tomorrow at 145pm. She was also scheduled by the Oncologist to have a PET SCAN on Friday!!! That was canceled due to HUMANA NOT covering this test!!! The Oncologist ALSO wanted blood work done for the test tomorrow so we had to go to QUEST LABS and had to wait 2 hours to find out that they could only draw 1.5 tubes of blood out of 4 that was ordered!!! The Oncologist ALSO needed to have Mom's PCP make out a referal for the test tomorrow!!! So we go and I take the paperwork in requesting this and have it faxed!!! We get home and got a call stating that THEY DO NOT FAX REFERALS and that the referal was ready to pick up!!! SO after I got Mom settled in I FINALLY got something to eat and left to pick up the referal. I get to the office and they can;t find it and someone comes out of the office and proceeds to tell me that they had already given me a referal to the Oncologist as well as a referal for Mom to see her surgeon. I explained to this person that that was last week and we saw the Oncologist this morning and that she was needing the referal from her PCP to have the test done tomorrow! She asks me to sit down and after approx 20 minutes comes out with the referal and tells me that Mom could Not have this test done at the hospital and that she has to go elsewhere down the road!!! I FINALLY get home after breaking down and crying for a few because of the STRESS, and low and behold I get a call from where she is to have this test done and I am to make sure Mom has no food 4HRS prior to the test and to also make sure that I have her blood work results with me! Needless to say we will probably have to reschedule this test for a later date!!! So Mom and I have been put through the wringer and are both STRESSED OUT!! I am so sorry my friends but I will not be voting this evening nor tomorrow as it again will be a VERY hectic day for both of us. I want to THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU FOR YOUR VOTES!! Complaining of stabbing cutting pain approximately 1-2 inches below her incision of the left breast. She also compared the pain to being in labor and not knowing which was worse! Dr changed pain meds and she is now on hydrocodone. This is working much better for her and it would be nice if she could get the STAPLES out on the 25th! AND she wants to keep the STAPLES! She is sleeping right now and I think I am going to do the same while I have a chance. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CONTINUING VOTES! I WILL VOTE WHEN I CAN! UPDATE 6/19... Mom home as of 6pm lastnite. In so much pain! She is allergic to codeine and its dirivatives as well as ANY metal! They gave her morphine in recovery. Morphine has codeine in it! Pain meds switched due to allergy. Bandages changed prior to discharge and found out they used STAPLES!!!! In Pre-OP nurses asked of any allergies. Mom and I BOTH said codeine and all dirivatives and metals!! Someone did not read and/or ignored this!!!!! I am EXTREMELY UPSET AND am pursuing avenues of action to take for these negligent acts!!!! I am soooo very tired as I have not slept much. UPDATE 6/8... Mom will be having surgery 6/17 Please pray for her as she is not just my mom she is also my best friend! Today she has been in quite a bit of pain. The good thing that has happened is that she received a powerchair. Drs orders! So if the GOOD LORD along with FCC could find it in your hearts we really nead a van or SUV that can handle the weight of a powerchair. At this time I want to thank Brian and Reggie and the entire staff at FCC! You all are angels as well as all the voters!! GOD BLESS EVERYONE! Thank You! UPDATE-CANCER has struck my family once again. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer last week. I am still somewhat in shock. I am having to be strong for her and am trying to find some type of support group to help us cope. I feel in a way it is her and I fighting this alone.Just needed to get this off my chest. CANCER SUX!!!!!......ORIGINAL STORY- I feel I have left info out so you may better understand my situation. In 2003 Mom and I moved out to Arizona to start a new life. It took awhile til I found a full time job in my field of choice as a Security Officer. We were doing fine til I got hurt (at home) to make a long story short I have 2 bulging discs in my lower back and one in my neck. So for a year I could not walk. Laying down was absolute pure torture! I was taking 1500mgs of OTC painkillers every 4-5 hours just so I could get some sleep ! Well I still have some problems now and then when the pain will stop me dead in my tracks and I wait it out for a couple of minutes til it passes and I go on. Yes I can walk now THANK YOU GOD !! I switched my job prefrence and worked in wood building drawers for a great company and boss. I was the healthiest one there never coming down with the flu when everyone else was losing up to a week being home sick. Then the tables turned on me I had severe chest pains and finally had mom take me to ER. They didn't know what was wrong and come to find out that not only was my chest hurting but my spleen and liver were swollen. Well they thoought that I had CANCER! But the good news was I did not have the BIG C I had valley fever. I was so sick they had to knock me out for 3-4 weeks and restrain me for fear I would pull tubes out of my throat that drained my lungs. I was also developing blood clots in my lungs which is extremely painful. So I know that many have lost loved ones to cancer , even I have BUT I would have much rather have had cancer as to what I was going through. The anibiotics they use to tame valley fever I would call LIQUID CHEMO !.... We have all had it rough at some time in our lives. Mine is no different , I am not in the greatest of health after Valley Fever almost ending my life 2 years ago. Some people just get a bad headache while others spend some time in ICU for weeks as I did. When this disease is bad it can kill you. You are never the same after that. I was the Bread Winner in the house and I loved my job. Then my life changed, I have short term memory loss, loss of physical strength and have asthma and emphysema along with severe depression. Much of the depression is due to health and waiting for Disability to decide my fate, but also that my mom and I can not go shopping or dr. appts. or just to get out of the house for a few hours WITHOUT ASKING TO USE MY SISTERS CAR OR HAVE HER DRIVE US TO PLACES WE NEED TO GO. A mid size car or van that has room for a scooter for my mom would be a GODSEND ! Thank you for reading and your time and your vote. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. There is no cure for Valley Fever ! 3/10/2010 UPDATE Was denied Disability :( I got one more chance and this will be in court. If for some reason I do not win then I need to find work. Another reason for the need for FCC. When we moved from Arizona we all knew my car would not make it, so I sold her for $300, I could not afford to fix it and SHE had over 115,000 miles on her. She was a GREAT car. Mom and I need to get out of the house more, we miss the beach and she can not see her friend who lives about 30 miles away. Her friend can and does drive but is not allowed to drive very far due to her health. Can't keep asking my sister to haul us around to places we NEED to go or borrow her car. I am very thankful that we have a roof over our head and food to eat and a bed to sleep in and a computer to use. We have been homeless twice won't go into detail but my mom and I had fun camping several months and we slept darn good in my car. Wish we could sleep that well now. But stress plays on the mind and spirit and body. So I will be fighting for Disability. They may have won the battle but I will win the war :)
