My name is Melanie and I am 51. I have 2 wonderful children and a great husband. My Story___ I married very young, we had a son and I raised him alone because his dad was always gone for weeks at a time and came home once in awhile. I and my son suffered from domestic violence.I decided to leave and start a new life for my son and I. Our life was a struggle but so much better. I thought I would never marry or date again. Time heals, I met a man that was great to me and my son, he is my husband and my friend. I really tried not to like him, we kept dating and got married. You have to keep moving forward no matter what your hurts and challenges may be or you will miss great times in your life. My husband and I had a daughter 18 months after we married. Our life together was so much fun and busy. We took care of our family and have met so many great people along the way. We worked with teenagers at church and in our community. We have been very blessed in our life through family and friends. When I was 30 I became disabled due to back injuries. We still enjoyed life, bought a home, and stayed busy with everyday life. My husband worked in a sick building and stayed sick with immune problems. So our income was lowered 75% and we sold our home. Our life has been tough financially since he got sick, but we still believe and try to make things better. My daughter was a Senior at school when she was violently attacked. Our cars were broken into and torn up, horrible threats, and we were afraid every day and night. So we moved 13 hrs away from home to get away from the violence. The apartment, we moved into, tested positive for airbourne toxic mold which produced toxins which made all of us very sick. So today I need a car to help my children finish college, go to doctors, groceries. visit family, go to church, keep up with everyday needs, a better job for my husband, help some of my older friends buy groceries, and get out more. I would love to go to a movie, or just be able to live a normal life. We had an older car and now need a car. Without a car this is very hard and there is no public transportation, I live 7 miles from town. I can't afford a car. My children want to help disadvantaged children and we need a car so they can finish college. I have hope for our future. Everyday on the site I vote, laugh some days and get sad others due to the stories and challenges that my friends are dealing with. I have made great friends here and I see lives changing everyday because they have been gifted with a car and have support from friends.
