******UPDATE WITH GREAT NEWS!!!!!!5/15/2010....I am very happy to announce we have purchased a full size conversion van with a wheelchair lift!!!!My dream come true,it's made life so much easier.Now only if my sweetie felt good enough to go out it would be great. We (he) got an unexpected insurance check and we had to get it.I'll be transfering votes to all of you out there that have been voting for us in hopes you will get that call one day.Thanks to all who have voted and good luck!!Please don't vote for me anymore.THANKS AGAIN!!................My boy friend broke his neck in a car accident in March 2009. I quit working to take care of him at home instead of him being hospitalized. He is still very sick.He has been fighting infections in his bones. He has muscle spasams so bad he can't function and a very bad bed sore that has put him on complete bed rest. We need a wheelchair accessible van to transport him to the doctors which is 1 1/2 hrs away. And when he's feeling better hopefully to take him out to enjoy himself.(That's a long way away). We took what we hd to purchase a van but it only lasted 2 months before the engine blew up. We are trying to fix it with the help of friends. We are finding there isn't alot of help out there and you have to make do with what you have got and make the best of it. I am doing anything I can to get a vehicle that is reliable and I'm not scared to put my honey in it. I hope this website can help-and maybe we can help it. Update... Happy New Years to all out there. My sweetie has another Doctor's appointment on monday. The senior citizens wheelchair bus cannot take him because it is Martin Luther King's Birthday. They couldn't take him last week because they felt we probably still had too much snow. They couldn't take him the week before becuse school was called off for snow so they don;t run. I can't win. He has to go -he's been running a fever every day for a week now. I wish I knew someone with a van with a wheelchair lift to ask for a ride.Last week I borrowed my father's car and had someone come over to help me get him in the car. He has no feeling from the chest down and limited use of his hands. He cannot be up on his bottom for more than an hour because of a stage four (the worst-all the way done to the bone) bed sore he got while hospitalized. He has veery bad muscle spasams and very bad neck and shoulder pain. He's very uncomfertable in a car.He needs to be in his chair in a van. Still trying to get our van fixed- it may need a new motor. I've always taken care of myself and now my sweetie is relying on me-I hate having to ask others for rides and help. But right now I have to rely on friends and family. I have been enjoying my bird feeder outside the kitchen window since we've been snowed in. My sweetie can see it from his hospital bed in the living room. Update>>>1/30/2010...My sweetie is back home from the hospital (again),he was very sick. He can't wait again to go in. He didn't want to be sick but with him -ignore it and it goes away doesn't work.We have started the process to get him an electric wheelchair.We are still trying to get an engine in the van. What we really need is one that actually works without weekly repair.My son has signed up on here to help me-look him up and become friends 77highboy. He used to own a 77 Ford Highboy-I loved that truck!I am not sure how often he'll be able to return votes because he is in the army and stationed in Kuwait.I am not sure how often he is on the computer but every little bit helps.
