I am a single mother of an 11 year old multiply disabled girl named Sarah. Her father left us when she was born. I went bankrupt, lost my marriage, my car and my home as a result of choosing to step up to the plate and raise my daughter as opposed to putting her in a special home. Outside of being Sarahs mom I have no life of my own. She is my world. She goes to a special school, but like other kids has alot of holidays and vacation time off, so noone will hire me when I would have to be out so much. Because of her disabilities, noone will watch her and I can't afford to pay a private nurse to care for her. At that point it is cheaper for me to stay home and watch her myself. I have a car now that is in terrible condition and is very unsafe. The brakes are shot , so are the ball bearings and the seat belts do not work properly. We have been living with my mother in an adult community where Sarah is not allowed to reside, therefore I cannot have her school bus pick her up in this development where it would attract attention to her being here. She also attends therapeutic horse-back riding once a week and sees a host of doctors and specialists throughout the year. I don't need a good safe car for myself, I'm used to going without, but my daughter deserves one. Without a good safe car I can't properly care for my daughter and get her where she wants and needs to go. I can't afford the repairs to this existing car which would far exceed the worth of the car anyway. As for a new car that is an unattainable dream for me, and I accept that.
