My Story

UPDATE: 02/15/10; I finally got a new furnace in and the credit union will take the payments out of my SS Disability check as it shows up. I will just have to sit around and watch my nickles and dimes until I get it paid off. the van started leaking after the Freeze the beginning of the month . I think the water got into a seam in the roof and when it froze it damaged it. I got it fixed temporarily with some white silicone, I hope??? ______________________UPDATE: 01/19/10; Some good news and some bad news. The Credit Union has approved some of the money for the furnace. However the van is running real bad (Stalling at every light) and since it is an automatic I can't put the clutch in and rev the engine. I am going to the guy who always worked on it for my friend and see if he can help??? Then I need to go to the Bank to get the money for the Furnace guy. Wish me Luck. ______________________________________________ UPDATE: Well I went to my credit union to see if I can get a loan of about $1000 to get a new furnace but to no avail. They said I don't have enough income and have some late payments!!! Duh, I know I told them that :^( No luck so far on "Wish upon a Hero" ____________________________ My Story, My life: This may be difficult since I am sure I am not the MOST deserving candidate for a help with a vehicle but that doesn't mean that I don't deserve one and don't need the help. I was first injured in a motorcycle accident on my way home from my job as a McDonald's Manager in North Tonawanda, NY. I was hit head on by a car on the wrong side of the road. They had very little insurance so after all my expenses there wasn't much left for me. I had lost most of the use of my right arm (yes I was right handed) and partial use of my left knee. I was out of work for 5 years for recovery and surgeries including reconstructive surgeries and was on SSDI. I had messed up my marriage back in '81 and actually married the woman involved. We were together for 25 years and married 18 of them. Then in February of '07 I found out that she had been cheating on me. She left in March, the company I was working for got sold in April and I had worked for the new employer for 32 days straight(no OT I was Management) when I had another accident in May '07. I collapsed 2 vertebra in my back and aggravate a bad hip. I had to have back surgery and the hip replaced and need more surgeries after I get some sort of help with medical insurance. You see after 6 months My employer terminated me because of my long term injuries and I am back on SSDI. There is a two year waiting period for medicare to kick in and medicaid says I make too much money on SSDI and can't get medicaid. So I was with out insurance and couldn't afford my medications. Because I wasn't on my meds I had another seizure in May of '09. Again because medicaid would not cover me I now have all sorts on new medical bills to pay. One good point is that Pfizer has agreed to help me by supplying my medication while I have no insurance at no cost to me. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH PFIZER. I have always had a very positive outlook on life and my situation because I could always look around and see someone who has it more difficult than I. I had a good friend sell me her old van, 1992 and I still owe her the money but she understands my situation. It really needs work and I can't do it and can't afford to do it. If my situation should change I would love to give it back to her since now her grandson lost his car in an accident. After looking at the tax implications for those who donate I understand how this works and I want to thank the people who donate the vehicles and those who run this site for there work helping people like me with so little and those who have the wherewithal to make the donations and giving them the best possible tax break...... Hmmm, sort of wish I had to worry about tax breaks instead of bone breaks, LOL Thanks for reading and you votes. Best of luck with whatever you want in life. PS.... getting help just fixing mine would be great but it does need a lot of work. It needs brakes, tires and leaks oil and transmission fluid. I need to put transmission fluid in every couple of days and oil every couple of weeks. They may be easy fixes but I can't afford to have them checked out. Thanks for all the votes Mike

Brian / FREE Charity Cars Please keep this site a positive, uplifting experience...Dealer flyers can be found on this website-go to "about us" then "sponsor info". Our program with dealers is unique. We don't ask dealers for cars-we ask them to tag us on their advertising. The nicer cars that are donated as a result of that advertising are awarded to our members. We hold Free Charity Cars giveaway events at dealerships that participate. Simply email our flyer to car dealers everywhere! Email the flyers to the auto manufacturers as well! Thank you for all of your hard work! :)
