...Update...12/03/09... I got the best news today, my housing came through. I can start looking for a place for my 12 year old daughter and myself. This has been the longest 16 months of my life. I don't wish homelessness on my worst enemy. I have been through pure hell. This christmas might not be good, but for the first time ever, I don't care if we don't have anything under the tree. I'll have my own HOUSE. The shelter I'm in told me the day befor thanksgiven that I had to have a job working 20 hours a week by 11/30/09 or I had to leave the shelter 12/01/09. I couldn't find one with the holidays going on. It's not like I sit around doing nothing, I go to school Mon thru Thur. for 15 hours a week, I go to another program for 5 hours a week and I work for 10 hours a week, plus I volunteer at my daughters school. I just don't know what they expect from me. But I do know one thing GOD won't give me more than I can handle. ...UPDATE...11/11/09...I recently moved out of the safe house. I am in another shelter with my daughter. I have been trying to find a job but it is trully hard. I have never had this much trouble finding a job, and I have office skills, accounting skill and yet I still can't seem to find a job. My Story: I am the mother two daughters, Samantha 24 years old and Jordan 12 years old, I love them with all my heart. I was with Jordans' father for 20 years. He physically and mentally abused me for the last 12 years of our relationship. Finally on September 18, 2009. I was abused for the last time. I was beaten up, unbenost to my fiancé, in front of two police officers. That is the only reason I am still alive. God was looking out for me on that day. They pulled him off of me and arrested him. I am now in a safe house and trying to get my life back together for my daughter and myself. I was not allowed to work for the last 20 years because, according to him, my place was home taking care of the house and the babys. I am now in school, looking for work and taking my daughter to school. I also have to take her to therapy twice a week for counseling and to see her psychologist once a month to get her medicine. We now have to walk ¾ of a mile to get to the bus stop and have to catch six busses every morning and every afternoon. I cannot afford a car right now; however, I would be extremely grateful to receive a car.
